I met Al in 1994 when I was assigned to the USCG Academy, Facilities Engineering Division. I had the opportunity to work alongside Al and learn all about architecture. I remember very vividly his office, which had all the inclines of a John L. Wright design study. He meticulously had drawings on one side and his drafting table on the other. His handwriting was impeccable. To the point that I tried copying it lol. It is because of Al that I decided to give architecture a try. I loved it, and although I was not able to finish my studies, it served me as a way to earn a commission in the U.S. Coast Guard. Thank you Al for your words of encouragement, your passion for classical music, our car discussions (he loved his SAAB), and overall kindness. It goes without saying, that you will be missed. It was a pleasure meeting you, and I will always remember you! Fair winds and following seas!
