Obituary of Richard L. Berdensey
Richard L. Berdensey, 85, of Gales Ferry passed away at the Beechwood Rehabilitation Center in New London on February 27, 2014. He was born in Deep River, son of the late Arthur and Effie (Dickinson) Berdensey. He was a proud Army veteran serving in the Korean War and earning a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Richard worked for 25 years as a mechanic at Pratt and Whitney in Middletown, after retiring he was a driver for Curtain Livery in Waterford. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and camping as well as the UCONN Huskies and NY Yankees. He also was a longtime member of the Chester Fire Dept. Richard is survived by his wife Esther (Soule) Berdensey, his two sons Michael J. Berdensey of Chester and Lawrence A. Berdensey of Gales Ferry, a stepson, John H. Green Jr. of Gales Ferry, stepdaughters, Linda Sevigny of Waterford and Charlene Haag of Chester, his sister, Marian Beemer of Deep River, and three grandchildren, Charlotte, Erin, and Kathleen. Visitation will be held at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. Centerbrook on Tuesday from 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10am. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River with full Military Honors. Contributions in Richard's name may be made to the Chester Hose Co., P.O. Box 214, Chester, CT 06412.
