Obituary of Dorothy (Clark) Dickinson

Mrs. Dorothy (Clark) Dickinson, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great

Grandmother and Great, Great Grandmother passed away peacefully on July 22, 2018.  She was born in Winsted, Connecticut to Hyram and Ethel Clark. She lived in Middletown during her school years.  It was while square dancing in Middletown that she met and married Bernard Dickinson.  In 1950 the family moved to Deep River where Dorothy (Dot) lived for the remainder of her life. Dot was devoted to her family and home.She was loved and liked by so many and would help anyone she came across who needed it.  In later years she traveled with family and friends.  She volunteered in the community and for twenty years with the National Theatre of the Deaf.  She gave her whole heart to everything she did including St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chester where she had been a communicant since 1950.  Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Bernard and her dear granddaughter Sarah.  Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Grace Krick and husband Bill, daughter, Rita Thorpe and husband David, son, Thomas Dickinson and wife Linda, son, James Dickinson and wife Pam, daughter, Lorraine Nemecek, daughter, Kelly Hyatt, and son, John Dickinson and wife Wendy.  She was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandson.  Many nieces and nephews from her extended family and a dear lifelong friend Josie Pisa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to Chesterfield’s Patient Activity Fund, 132 Main Street, Chester, CT 06412. The family would like to thank the Chesterfield’s staff, so many of whom went above and beyond in caring for their Mother. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26th from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 27th   at 10:30 AM at Saint Joseph Church, 48 Middlesex Ave. in Chester. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
