Although I knew Ed for over 46 years, we have only been next door for 40 in the house he grew up in as a boy. He spent every sunny day sitting on the back porch, unless he was out fishing or crabing, waiting for an opportunity to shoot a squirrel. He would often invite me over for a beer and what ever was abundant in Delaney’s garden. When ever we we away, we always came home to a newly mowed lawn, courtesy of Ed and when ever there was a tree to cut down he was quick to get out the chain saw.
When I was in the OSFD there was always a race to see wether Ed, Cole, or I could get to the trucks first. Cole occasionally beat Ed but I don’t think I ever did. I never met a more dedicated man in my life. We will all surely miss him.
