Obituary of Jean Zobel
Jean Zobel, age 71 of Deep River passed away on Wednesday morning, October 24, 2018 at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. She was the beloved wife of Fred Zobel, III. Jean was born in New Haven on November 6, 1946 the daughter of George H. and Esther (Beam) Pfaff. She had been a resident of Deep River since 1978. She was a communicant at Saint Joseph Church in Chester and was a member of The Third Order of Mary at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Essex where she had also served as a church librarian and as a Eucharistic Minister. She loved to cook and bake, garden, craft, and restore religious statuary. Jean loved to dance and was an avid fan of Elvis Presley. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Besides her husband Fred she leaves her daughters, Michelle Porter and her husband Steven of Old Lyme, Denise Huckel and her husband Derek of Chester, and Danielle Zobel and her husband David of Manchester, New Hampshire. She also leaves her grandchildren, Spencer Porter, Dillon and Dean Huckel and Lorea Zobel and her sister, Jacqueline Padilla and her husband Ernie. Her beloved Trixie will miss her greatly. Jean was pre-deceased by her parents and her sister, Georgine Zemke. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10:30AM at Saint Joseph Church, 48 Middlesex Avenue in Chester with burial following in Saint Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
