Obituary of Barbara B. Heath
Barbara B. Heath, Beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully on Friday November 2, 2018 in New London with family by her side. She is now reunited with her loving husband Wayne E. Heath by whom she was predeceased on Jan. 6, 2013. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 20, 1937, the oldest daughter of Joseph and Jeanne Brennan of Danielson, Connecticut. She graduated from Killingly High School in 1956 and attended the University of Connecticut. After raising her young children Barbara worked for many years at Waterford Airport; a job she loved and where she made many friends. She later secured a managerial secretary position at Electric Boat in Groton. Barbara was well respected at EB and rose through the secretarial ranks there until her retirement. She most enjoyed coordinating college interviews for the Electric Boat employment office. Barbara was very creative. She was an avid fan of all fine arts. Barbara painted, sculpted, cross stitched and embroidered many beautiful pieces of art. She played piano, sang and acted for many years with the East Lyme Arts Council. Barbara was full of life and traveled extensively with Wayne. They enjoyed many cruises to the Caribbean, many weeks at their time share in Aruba and “wintered” many seasons in Redington Shores, Florida on the gulf. Barbara spent her last five years at Atria Crossroads in Waterford where she was very active, made many friends and was lovingly cared for. She is predeceased by her brother Paul and survived by her sister Michelle Bryce of East Killingly, Connecticut. She leaves three children; Michael Tripp of Clinton, Connecticut; Scott Tripp of Waterford, Connecticut; and Karen Brousseau of Westerly, Rhode Island, seven grandchildren, Allison, Jay, Keith, Audrey, Curtis, Hannah and Lizzie, as well as four great-grandchildren. A beloved family matriarch and friend to many, Barbara will be sadly missed. Visitation will be held on Saturday December 15th at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, CT. beginning at 10:00AM. A memorial service will follow at 11:00AM in the funeral Home chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
