Obituary of Conrad F. Becker

Conrad Frederick Becker, age 93, joined his wife of 67 years in Eternity with the Lord just 17 Days after her passing.  Conrad was a loving and faithful man, surpassing his goal of living “just one more day” than his true love, JUNE, whom he often called “Cookie”.   He was born in South Ozone, Long Island, NY to Conrad William Becker and Emma Anna Zeh on February 3, 1925.  At the age of 13, Conrad and his family relocated to Westbrook, CT, where he helped his parents take care of the homestead and farm animals while attending school.  He traveled to the Hand High School in Madison where he later graduated with a great talent in mechanical drawing.  At the age of 17, Conrad began his life long career as a Draftsman at the Cramer Company where he worked for 51 years, only taking a break to Serve our Country in the United States Army Air Corps for two years.  He was a Sergeant and Gunner on a B29 as a member of the 45th Bomb Squadron during WWII in which he flew in 28 Missions. Upon returning from the war, Conrad claimed his bride, Evelyn June Norton and they were married on March 31st, 1951, purchased their land on Westbrook Road in Deep River for $500 and built their home together over many years using a book for guidance!  Together they raised their three children, Dan, Paul and Joanne and created a life time of memories for their family and friends to cherish as they gathered at family picnics, hosted holidays, and explored New England with their pop-up Cox Camper!  Conrad loved to drive and take the family on long Sunday rides after church stopping for a treat along the way. Occasionally he would surprise us with a trip to Ocean Beach to go on amusement park rides and eat clam fritters and cotton candy! Conrad was a humble man who worked hard, loved God and his family, enjoyed his job, loved taking care of his home and yard and Adored the Love of his Life, June!  They did most everything together in their later years traveling to the Cape, taking scenic rides, eating out and going for long walks.  As they walked hand in hand out of a store, you would often times hear, “What an Adorable Couple!”  Their life together was a True LOVE STORY! Conrad leaves behind his son, Daniel Wayne Becker and his daughter, Joanne Lynn Klock and husband, Tom and was predeceased by his son, Paul Brian Becker.   He was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren – Jamie Lyn Becker, Alicia Renee Becker, Nicholas Ryan Klock, Andrew Neil Becker and Abby Rae Klock Marston and three precious Great Granddaughters – Calista Zeh Marston, Blakely May Marston and Harper Jade Becker.  He also leaves a brother, Arthur and his wife, Betty, a brother, Tom Becker, one sister, Irene Seckla and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Emma Swain. As the end of Con & June’s time together on this earth drew near, they were lovingly cared for by family and an Amazing Team of Caregivers for which we will be forever grateful – Debbie Hagen, Terry  Gilbert and Sharon Gilbert, who Showered them with Love, delicious meals, laughter and treats and lots and lots of Jigsaw Puzzles for Conrad! Could it be any more fitting that God would call Conrad Becker Home at 11 AM on the 11th Day of the 11th Month of 2018 – the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of Armistice Day on 11/11/1918, now known to us as Veteran’s Day!  THANK YOU, DAD, and THANK YOU to ALL who have served for the Freedom of this Great Country!  GOD BLESS AMERICA ! Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of his funeral service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.  Interment with the rendering of Full Military Honors will follow in the Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River.
