Phil and I really got to know each other on a school sponsored trip to Germany on Christmas break 1969. For $150 we flew from New York to Munich with Norm Kilcomons and Mike Greenspoon. We were on our own for 22 days. We went to Austria to ski. Phil did not ski, but instead he tried and became quite fascinated with a one runner sled with a high seat. It was fun to watch him master it with his long legs hanging over the sides.
It wasn’t until several years ago that we met up at The Lambda Home Coming at Central. We met for several years after that and he was really concerned to hear of the passing of another Lambda brother, Rob Jahngen.
In talking with him, he had accomplished in life what few people are able to do with family, work, community and friends. We are sure that everyone who knew him in the years ahead, will feel very fortunate that he crossed our paths in life.
Our thoughts go out to his family.

My thoughts and prayers to Jo-Ann and the entire Kurze family. I had the privilege of knowing Phil since grammar school. Over the years John and I developed into a special relationship with Phil and Jo-Ann. I always felt he was a gentle "giant". We are saddened by his passing but we are comforted in knowing he is at peace and Heaven has received a new angel.

My sincere condolences to Phil’s family.
To Phil: You were a dear friend for over forty years. You made your mark in life, but the most important one was that of family. You will be missed, but not forgotten.

I am saddened at the passing of Phil. A tireless supporter of CCSU, he enriched many lives. As his leaf falls others, like his grandchildren, will take his place. My prayers to his family.

My deepest sympathy to Phil's entire family. I have known Phil and his Mom for many years and hunted with his Dad for a few years up in Maine. When I first heard of Phil being struck by cancer I had so hoped and prayed that he would beat that dreaded illness just as I had done but The Good Lord had other plans and who are we to question that. May you rest in peace Brother Phil.
