Obituary of Paul D. Mozzochi

Paul D. Mozzochi, age 87, a life long resident of Deep River, passed away on Monday morning, November 17, 2014 at the Hartford Hospital in Hartford. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Guinan) Mozzochi. Paul and Kathy were married at the First Congregational of Deep River on October 9, 1981. Paul was born in Deep River on December 4, 1926 the son of Louis and Frances (Opizzi) Mozzochi. Paul was a Special Constable for the Town of Deep River first being elected in 1967 and was appointed each year there after. His last appointment was made this year. Paul had been the head custodian at the Deep River Elementary School for over 25 years retiring in 1990 to become Mr. Mom for his son Daniel. He had served as a member of the building committee for the Deep River Elementary School and continued to provide his constable services yearly to the PTO at Deep River Elementary School when needed. Paul was a proud veteran of the United States Army during World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the American Legion Ibell-Jacobson Post # 61 in Deep River, an avid New Yankee fan and an a admirer of Frank Sinatra and his music. Paul was very proud to place the flags on veterans' graves in Deep River each year for Memorial Day. Besides his wife Kathy he is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth M. Atkinson and her husband David of Kilgore, Texas, his son, Daniel P. Mozzochi and his wife Rebecca of Deep River, his step-daughter Cheryl Jacome of Deep River, his grandchildren, Shane O'Dell and Ariana Atkinson, both of Kilgore, Texas, and Joshua O'Dell, of Groton, and his sister, Gloria Niebler of Deep River. He also leaves 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his sister, Mary Trabucci, and his brothers, Atillo, Albert, Gary, George, Sevino, and Raymond. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. Paul's funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 20th at 11:00AM at The First Congregational Church of Deep River, 1 Church Street in Deep River. The rendering of Military Honors will take place following services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Paul's name may be made to the Ibell-Jacobson Post # 61 American Legion, P.O. Box 114, Deep River, CT 06417 or to the Deep River Historical Society, P.O. Box 151, Deep River, CT 06417.
