Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Parker
Elizabeth Ann (Weese) Parker, “Ann” of Ivoryton, died peacefully on December 28, 2018, just 2 days before her 76th birthday, after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Ann was predeceased by her loving husband Sheldon Parker after 45 years of marriage. Together, they were predeceased by their son Gary. Ann leaves behind her 3 children – Susan and Todd LeMire (Moodus, CT), John and Susan Parker (Warwick, RI) and Andrew and Marissa Parker (Ivoryton, CT); her 5 grandchildren, Alex & Samantha (Moodus, CT), Amanda, Audrey & Allison and her great-grandson Luke (Warwick, RI). She also leaves behind 2 sisters, Freda Whittsett of Mogadore, OH and Doris Bragg of Akron, OH, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, John D. and Beatrice J. (Phares) Weese, her brothers Frederick Weese and Edward Weese and her sister, Glenna Floyd. After retiring from Stop & Shop in 2007, Ann enjoyed spending time with her family. She could usually be found in the kitchen cooking up a delicious meal or wrapped in a blanket reading a book or working a crossword puzzle. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and Christmas was one of her favorite times of the year. Through Ann’s long and difficult journey with Alzheimer’s Disease, there were always so many loving and caring friends and staff along the way. We would like to specifically thank Kelly Bradway for providing gracious in-home care, the staff from Peregrine’s Landing for providing wonderful assisted living care in Clinton, the staff from Apple Rehab for providing advanced care in Old Saybrook and the staff from Beacon Hospice for providing end of life care. While we always knew this would be a battle we would never win, so many of her caregivers provided compassion and love to Ann and to us every step of the way, helping to make this battle a little more bearable for us all. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Interment will be privately held by the family in the Centerbrook Cemetery.
