I am so sorry to hear about Skip's passing. I have many fond childhood memories on Colonial Lane - we had a great neighborhood, and Skip was a part of that! As adults, it was always great to see him at the rink. He never changed, still the same friendly & kind Skip I remember from the neighborhood! He will be missed! Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest Easy, Skip! XO

Sally, I am so sorry. I was shocked to hear of Skip's passing. I remember all the good times we shared in New Haven, and Skip's 1967 Mustang without modern seatbelts. Love to all who miss him. Maris

It is sad to hear about Skippy's passing. I grew up two houses away from him in Wallingford. Sandy was one of my best friends growing up. I spent many days hanging out at their house. Sometimes the neighborhood kids would sit on the Murray house front steps and just hang out. My condolences to Skippy's family and may he be resting in peace.

Wow - I can't believe Skip is gone! To say my sympathies are with you does not begin to cover it. I know I had not seen my cousin in many years, but I will miss him, regardless.

Skip, nothing will be the same at the rink. You were a good friend to myself Marty and the other referees, always willing to help out and give your honest opinion. You will be missed deeply.

Donald may you rest in piece. I can remember seeing you you at Choate a few years ago before an adult hockey game I was playing that night. Remembering the days back in Montowese school that night were great. You were always a good friend.

The Hawks Family has lost a legend at the Choate Rink. Skip was a staple during hockey season, always tinkering with some special task when not driving the Zamboni. He always be remembered for his leather cowboy hat he used to wear driving the Zamboni. He was always quiet yet if you knew him, you knew what made him tick. Skip will be missed by all. Rest In Peace my friend and condolences to the entire family.

Oh Skipper.. I am truly sorry to hear of your passing. I will miss our weekend morning talks at the rink, fighting the brine pipes to push out the air, and running in to you on random Tueaday evenings at Archie's. I always appreciated your character, honesty, and willingness to share the greatest stories. You will be in my thoughts for a long time. Deepest condolences to your family. Rest easy brother...
