Mrs. Kalapos was such a kind woman. I got to know her as my daughter’s school nurse. Sometimes I think my daughter complained of feeling sick just to be able to sit in her office, visit and talk about dogs. Even in the years after my daughter left the school we would see Mrs. Kalapos around town and she would immediately remember us and have a chat. I’m so sorry for her family’s loss. She was truly a lovely person.

To each of you, Richard, Scott, and Krissy -- I extend my heartfelt condolences during this difficult earthly passing of your lovely wife and mother, Kathy. As I ponder the many years of working with Kathy, I as a teacher; she as our D.R.E.S. school nurse, I find myself thanking God for the blessed privilege and opportunity He gave me of working closely with her. By no means is it difficult to describe Kathy. She was genuinely loving and caring of each and every child she encountered. She treated each one, child and adult, with the utmost patience, respect, and genuine concern. I will especially cherish our time together as we often shared and traded recipes and cooking success (and failure) stories. Her smile and warm greetings will be forever etched in my heart.
In the midst of a dark world, Kathy has left us with a wonderful positive memory simply through the manner in which she lived her life. She touched many hearts in her own positive and caring ways. Kathy will not easily be forgotten.
May the peace of God which passes all understanding guard your hearts during this most difficult time. With prayers and Christian love in Christ Jesus both now and forevermore, Cami Kochanowski, D.R.E.S. colleague and friend

I am deeply saddened to hear of Kathy’s passing. She had a truly good heart and compassionate soul. If I had to describe her in one word, I would say, she was kind. Kindness permeated her every action. She was the perfect school nurse, intelligent, calm and kind. My kids and I will miss her. Please accept our condolences to her family and all who were lucky enough to be her friends.

To Kathy's Family,
We were so sorry to hear about your loss. Kathy was a wonderful, sweet person . It was fun working with her at St. Joseph's Christmas Fairs years ago. I loved chatting w her in the Adams Supermarket too. (I always felt better so she must have been a good nurse.) Several of us enjoyed seeing her at DRES for veterans programs. Pat Czepiel asked me to send you her condolences too. (Her computer is down.) Pat & her brother w Maria sat near you in church. Kathy was just good medicine for all of us. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.

Kathy was a friend. I first became acquainted with her when she was a parent of students at Deep River Elementary School. I also hired her as the school nurse for Deep River Elementary School. She had a genuine love for the children and they enjoyed seeing her. We shared a passion for Scotland as we were both members of the Gordon Clan. We often discussed my experiences visiting my daughter in Scotland. After her retirement, we both held an interest in the Scottish show called, "Outlander". We often discussed the plot.
I shall miss out conversations and her positive attitude. My condolences to Richard and the family.

I had the great privilege of both working with Kathy and being her good friend. Even though she was going through her own struggles, she always cared about others, and would do anything to help people. She was a compassionate and professional nurse who loved her students so much. I will greatly miss her laughter and her friendship. My deepest sympathy to Richard, Scott and Krissy.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your amazing wife. She was more than I could ever hope for in a school nurse for my son who started in DR in 2nd grade. She was one of the most warm and kind people i have ever met. My son graduated Valley in 2015, we will never forget her. I will make a donation to my favorite animal rescue in her honor, as she loved them so much!
Sincerely,

Words cannot begin to express the sorrow felt by the loss of such a lovely lady and caring nurse.
Kathy will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her forever.
I will continue to cherish beautiful memories of our visits and chats over tea and goodies (last time it was pizza & soda), and above all her sweet smile and BIG HUGS.
Sympathy and caring thoughts.

Kathy took care of all of my kids at DRES. As I think of her now I can hear her voice, calling about an overdue immunization record, or a scrape earned on the playground, or recognition that a little boy just needed a little break. Kathy exemplified the best qualities of a school nurse. She was compassionate, sympathetic, patient, and kind. She knew each of her students personally and she always treated them with genuine concern. My boys and I loved her for it. My thoughts are with her family and friends. Kathy was an integral part of our community and she will be missed. Sending deep sympathy.

Kathy was a school nurse colleague with deep roots and commitment to the Deep River community. I respected her professionalism and care she took with the students. With 25 years, she was the experienced leader of the Region 4 nursing team. I think it was appropriate to describe her being "robbed" of her retirement years--too short and struggling with cancer. She certainly was the center of her family. I am sorry for the grief to be faced and know that she loved you all very much.
