Obituary of Lorna Lee (Tos) La Flair

Lorna Lee (Tos) La Flair, 69 of Chester, CT, originally a farm girl of Hanford, CA died peacefully in her sleep early Wednesday morning, August 21, 2019.  She was the daughter of Lawrence and Christina Tos.  She is survived by her husband of 47 years, U.S. Navy Capt. (Retired) Keith R. La Flair and children Erin (La Flair) Wernert (Dr. John Wernert) and Michael La Flair, and granddaughters, Helen and Anna Wernert and her sister Joan (Tos) Papan. Lorna began her adult life as a patriot to our country in 1972 as a dedicated Naval wife.  She gave decades of service supporting her husband through Vietnam and his 27-year career as a Naval aviator, moving her family ten times while keeping her kids in line and her home immaculate. A nurse by trade, Lorna spent many years working in emergency rooms and doctors’ offices, always proud of her profession. There was nothing Lorna loved more than to entertain and welcome others into her home.  Everyone who visited knew they would always have a good time enjoying exceptional meals, wine and impeccable hospitality. She passed her culinary talent to her children; her son Michael, a trained chef and her daughter, Erin, claiming cooking as her favorite hobby. If she wasn’t planning her favorite meal, Lorna was watching any of her beloved sports teams which included the San Francisco 49ers, UConn Huskies, Alabama Crimson Tide or anything Team USA.  College football and basketball seasons were her favorite of all. Many who knew Lorna would comment on her impeccable taste in whatever she did.  Whether it was her fashion, hair style, bright red lips, home, or menus; everything was done to perfection with timeless classic style.  It was a remarkable talent.   She was a lover of music (she was a rocker; she loved her Rolling Stones) and could be caught dancing frequently to Mick Jagger blaring in the living room.  During the holidays, Christmas music would be on continuous rotation as she snuggled with the dog next to the fire.   A true animal lover, Lorna’s pets, Murray her cat and her dogs, Max and Bogey brought her much joy over the last 20 years.  Lorna will be missed and her loved ones will forever appreciate her contributions to the success of her family and everything she sacrificed for her country.  The funeral will be held at 2pm on Friday, August 30th at the First Congregational Church at 1 Church Street, Deep River, CT with burial after at Fountain Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Lorna's name to the Chester Hose Company, P.O. Box 214, Chester, CT 06412. To share a memory of Lorna or send a condolence to her family, please visit www.rwwfh. com.  Arrangements by Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook.
