Obituary of Shirley C. Terenzi

Shirley C. Terenzi, 84, passed away peacefully at home in Deep River, CT on Sunday, September 1, 2019 surrounded by family. Born in Waterbury on November 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Pietro Ciarlo and Philomena (Albini) Ciarlo. Formerly of Waterbury, CT and later years retiring to Bonita Springs, Florida, Shirley dutifully supported and embraced her husband’s thirty years in fire service with the City of Waterbury Fire Department and her son’s twenty six years with the Connecticut State Police. Shirley was a member of the Bermuda Gardens Condominium Association Board of Directors and a Eucharistic Minister and communicant at St. Leo Catholic Church in Bonita Springs, FL. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Peter Terenzi Jr.  She is survived by her son, Peter R. Terenzi III (Janice Kmetz) of Deep River, CT, and grandson, Peter R. Terenzi IV of Los Angeles, CA. She also leaves brothers Mario Ciarlo of Fallschurch, VA, Daniel Ciarlo of Naugatuck, CT, and sister, Patricia Boudo and husband Peter Boudo of Tolland, CT, several nieces and nephews, as well as Aunt Mary and Uncle Angelo Guerrera. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect Street, Essex, CT.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, CT at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Connecticut State Police Academy Alumni Educational Foundation, 285 Preston Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450.
