Obituary of Matthew T. Griffin

Matthew T. Griffin, 40, of Niantic passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. He was born on May 7, 1973, in New London, the son of Thomas J. and Judith (Ellis) Griffin. Matthew grew up in Deep River and graduated from Valley Regional High School. After attending high school Matthew attended the Oklahoma Ferrier College. He is survived by his fiancée Sally A. Wojtkiewicz, and her children Andrew C. and Laura J. Wojtkiewicz, and his stepmother Jayne Griffin Mather of Deep River. He is also survived by his sister Heidi Brewer and her husband Peter both of Belize, his stepsister Kimberly Nancarrow and her husband Michael of Marietta,Georgia. He is also survived by his nephew Travis J. Gahran, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind this Aunt and Uncle Joan and Bill Griffin of Milford, and his Aunt Joan Brow of East Hartford. Matt was predeceased his parents. He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. Matt loved to camp all year round. He loved helping others when he could. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Deep River on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Burial will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Matt's name to the Obesity Active Coalition, 4511 North Himes Road, Tampa, FL, 33614.
