I am so sorry to hear about this! My prayers and condolences go out to all of you! Having grown up and gone to school with both Jim and Sharon, we shared many memories on the buses that your family ran, whether to go to school or to a game! I first met James Castelli, Sr, in 1986, when I became the superintendent of schools, in Regional S.D. No. 4. The Region's bus transportation contract was with Liberty Bus Company, that Jimmie and his wife owned. Jim's reputation was superb and he lived up to it. He and his wife, Diane, provided reliable bus transportation and I could count on them to give me assistance in determining whether of not to cancel school during bad weather. In fact everyone in the towns and Boards of Education were pleased enough to renegotiate the bus contract with him every three years. When he retired in1988, his son, Jimmie Jr. took over. He had the same character as his father, who had taught him well. While other districts had some trouble with their bus contractors, we did not. James and his son were gentleman and carried that characteristic over to their method of running Liberty Bus Company. I was very fortunate to work with them.

Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family! You and Jim were special people both personally and professionally. Your standard of service while owning Liberty Bus Lines, including your caring for students, drivers and the community, still are unmatched in the transportation industry. A great legacy!!!

Diane, It was with great sadness that I read about Jim’s passing. My heart goes out to you and your family at this very difficult time. I remember Jim very well through his long friendship with my brother Bob. If I remember correctly, he was always ready to have a good time. I hope that lifetime of memories that you built together with help to soften the the most difficult days ahead. Take comfort in your family and keep Jim close in your heart.

Very sorry to learn of the loss. Condolences to the Castelli family and friends, your loss is the greatest of all.
He will be remembered by many as a leader and pioneer in the school bus industry in CT. His legacy will live on in the many children, now adults that he helped safely transport to school.

I am shocked to hear this - I thought he'd outlive me. He always seemed so physically healthy and collected in disposition .
I met Jim in the 8th grade - 14 years old. We never got to know one another. I saw him once at a basketball game at VRHS when I returned for a visit from WDC. I was really dumbfounded in seeing his son on the court. It was a deja vu transporting me back to 1958 when I last saw Jimmy Sr. playing, since they looked so incredibly identical in every way at age 18!! I saw again him at St.Josephs in Chester where I Lectored for 20 years (after returning to DR to live in 1985). I thought of him as an easy-going regular guy with a nice temperament. I send my love and sympathy to Diana and their family. I know his love will be a loss to you all. I have great hope to see him again in the not too distant future when we'll meet again with Jesus.

Diana, Jimmy, Sharon and families, I am so sorry to read of Jim's passing. The Castelli's have been such a big part of my life, always with such great affection. I remember when Jim and Diana were dating, when little Jimmy was born, then came vivacious Sharon. Jim was always such a kind, sweet, considerate man. Jim and Diana's marriage was such a love story, a true inspiration. My heart breaks for all of you. Sending so much love your way.
