Our only disappointment about meeting Bill is that we didn't know him long enough. Jay still cracks up recalling Bill's toast at Joe and Tara's wedding reception and then hanging out with him and MaryAnn for the rest of that great day. So glad that his music was playing at Joe and Tara's BBQ last summer when they visited Tahoe. Such a short time to know him, but a one-of-a-kind! We'll think of him often!

I worked with "Wild" Bill in Materials Engineering in E. Hartford and can attest to his loyalty towards his friends. Bill lived by a code of honor that is sadly missing to some degree in today's society. If you were his friend he would walk through walls for you. I can also attest to his room clearing ability that he always attributed to nervousness. I haven't seen him in years but the world is a little sadder today with him gone. Bill was a good man.

My heart is broken for MaryAnn, my beautiful cousin and her son Joey. Under these unusual circumstances that we are facing in our country at this moment, it is most unusual that someone that devoted himself to physical fitness , as Bill has done forever, would suddenly be taken from us in a bicycle accident. My heart, love, prayers and thoughts are with you, Maryann , Joey and family.
Please remember all the fond memories you created and hold them close in your heart.
Rest In Peace, Dude..... And I mean it!!

He willl always be Mr. Murphy or Coach to me. Truly one of a kind, and one of the reasons I learn to love sports at a young age, even if he did trade me off his team once. One of the rare individuals who would always listen and actually cared about you.. Mr. Murphy, you will be greatly missed.

As a friend of Bill's at the Y and his Dunkin coffee club, we were all entertained by his stories, raunchy jokes and songs, and the nicknames all of us were given. Deep down, though, he was kind, a perfect gentleman, and a very special person. He was one of a kind who will be missed. Rest in peace, my dear friend. The pearly gates opened and your reservation was called way too soon.

Dear Mary Anne and Family, Bills truly shocking and untimely loss affects us all so deeply. Bill had in his very unique way revealed so many acts of kindness to Marion and me over the years. He had been the colourful spirit and focus of our Y. friends. Bill had honoured me with the title name Rocky 25 years ago when I first arrived.
With all our deepest love, Marion and Rocky.

It is so sad to hear about Bill’s passing. He had the kind of strength, determination, and humor that was one of a kind. You could say I was lucky enough to share car-pooling with Bill and Jack for many years. His antics and humor kept our ride to work interesting, and different every single day. You will be truly missed by everyone!

With heartfelt sorrow I offer my thoughts and prayers to Maryann and Joe. Did not see enough of Bill over the years due to the miles between us, but the cousin get togethers on Railroad Ave were something else. Nothing shy about Bill. Eternal rest granted onto Bill, oh Lord, may perpetual light shine upon him.

I won't write all the great things that Bill did for others, nor what he meant to me because he wouldn't want me to, and I will respect that. Yes he might have farted at you, or got you to pull his finger once or twice, and we all know how that went; but that was Bill, and I loved him for it. I can never look at a UPS truck without smiling; nor order a cup of coffee without thinking about him. America has lost a great man and England is much the sadder for it. R.I.P. my friend. Niquil

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Bill. He grew up down the street from me when I was a kid. I remember one time he was riding his motorcycle on the road in front of my house and he hit a patch of sand and he fell in the road.I felt so bad for him.I know your in a better place right now but my heart breaks .Maryann my thoughts are with you at this time.

To the Murphy family
I knew Bill thru the Y and was one of the Dunkin groupies. He had me in stitches most of the time and insisted I lived in Ivoryton and I insisted I lived in Essex! He had a nickname for all of us and coffee at Dunkin will never be the same. You’ll be truly missed my friend. Rest In Peace.
