Heaven Gained Another Angel This Week... My Most Admirable, Loving & Strong Matriarch Of The Cotter Family, 4 Children, 3 Grandchildren, & Mother-In-Law, Patricia Redmond Cotter! She Kept Coming To Mind The Past Couple Of Months & This Week, Especially While Washing Dishes (No Dishwasher, I Still Wash Mine The Old Fashioned Way, By Hand)! A Memory Of Visiting Her Turn-Of-The-Century Irish Immigrant "Da", At His New Rochelle Apt; Of Her Gently Tipping The Dish Detergent Bottle Back As I Endeavored To Soap Up A Sponge To Wash A Couple Of Utensils In His Sink! She Was Eco Conscious!
It Was On Another Somber Ocassion, That Of Her Younger Sister's Passing, Having Lost Her Battle With Breast Cancer! And Mama Pat, Was A Longtime Survivor At The Tender Age Of 90! "She Came From A Line Of Long Livers!", My "Papa 'Sturzi" (As My Thomas Would Lovingly Refer To My Pop) Would Say! Grandpa Redmond Lived Into His 90's Too! Some Do, Some Don't! My Dad To Age 80, My Mom To Age 55! Strong Stock, Nevertheless...They Persisted! No Matter The Struggles Life Threw At Them! No Doubt, A Halleujah Party Has Commenced: Pat Has Joined Her Beloved Husband Of 49 Years & Her Son, My Ex, Tommy; My Dad Greeted Her, She Has Finally Met My Mom & Also By My Uncle Joe (They Met At Tom & My Wedding)! That's What "U.J" Would Try To Assure U.S. Of! There Would Be A Reunion & Of Our Loved Ones "On The Other Side" & A Celebration Of Our Completed Life Missions!
With Sincere Sympathy & Sorrow In The Loss Of Your Mom, Grandmom & Sister! Hugs & Kisses X 8
With Love,
Donna Cotter
At Least, That Is What I Choose To Imagine! God Speed Mama Pat! I Will Always Remember You With Loving Admiration & Respect!
"I wish I could translate the hints about the dead young men and women,
And the hints about old men and mothers, and the offspring taken soon out of their laps.
What do you think has become of the young and old men?
And what do you think has become of the women and children?
They are alive and well somewhere,
The smallest sprout shows there is really no death,
And if ever there was it led forward life, and does not wait at the end to arrest it,
And ceas'd the moment life appear'd.
All goes onward and outward, nothing collapses,
And to die is different from what any one supposed, and luckier."-- Walt Whitman, Leaves Of Grass

Pat,
How lucky I was to have been your sister in law.
Aging with grace and style is a rare gift that I always admired about you.
What a blessing it was to know and love you.
Thank you!
Gloria

My sincere sympathy to the Cotter family. Pat was always a delight to be around. Her sense of humor and Irish wit just lit up the room. I know both Pat and Bill made the Christmas holidays at the O'Neils home alot of fun many years ago. Until we all meet again may God hold each of you in the palm of His hands. My prayers are with you. Peace, Susan Nolin

Bill, Jeanne and Patty, I am so sorry to hear of your moms passing. I had been thinking of her these past few weeks. She is remembered fondly by not only me but by Sam and Robin as well. Take care of each other, Deborah DeNardo
