Obituary of Daisy Agnes Boyd

On Thursday, September 3rd, 2020, Daisy Agnes Boyd, beloved mother, grandmother, and Shoreline community member passed away at the age of 100 in Middletown, CT. Daisy was born on October 1st, 1919 in Boston, MA to Leslie S. and Anna Teresa (Norris) Soper along with five other siblings, including her late twin Violet. She married Norman Paul Boyd of Broken Bow, Nebraska in New Brighton, Staten Island, NY on December 21st, 1940 and they raised two sons, Ronald and Martin as well as three daughters, Muriel, Laraine, and Norma. Daisy and Norman moved to Old Saybrook, CT in 1952 and resided in the Old Saybrook lighthouse before moving into town. Afterwards, Daisy lived in Westbrook, CT for many years. Daisy was a very bright and caring woman. She loved her family dearly and had many friends in her community. Always primed and proper, Daisy made it a point to always look her best and swore to never leave the house without her lipstick on because she would always say “You’ll never know who you might see”. She loved to sew and make blankets, clothes, and homemade Raggedy Ann dolls for her children and grandchildren. She was a long time member of The First Congregational Church of Westbrook and was at one time a very active member of both the Women's and Craft Clubs of the church. Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, her mother, Anna, and her father, Leslie. She is survived by her five children, Ronald (Marcia), Muriel, Laraine (Henry), Martin (Barbara), and Norma (David), her 11 grandchildren; Hartmut, Michele, Katherine, Robert, Travis, Heather, Adam, Martin, Joshua, Abigail, and Grace, as well as her 10 great-grandchildren; Xavier, Cade, Andrew, Caroline, Jameson, Quinn, Kendra, Caleb, Julianne, and Jaxson, and two great-great-grandchildren, Raiden and Miyah. Visitation for Daisy will be on Tuesday, September 8th from 6 PM to 8PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home at 34 Main St. in Centerbrook, CT. Funeral services will be on September 9th at 11 AM at the First Congregational Church of Westbrook 1166 Boston Post Rd. in Westbrook, CT. Her burial will be at 11 AM on Saturday, September 12th at Centerbrook Cemetery on 37 Westbrook Rd. in Centerbrook, CT.
