Obituary of Maureen Elizabeth Manning

Maureen, “Mo” Elizabeth Manning died and went straight to Heaven unexpectedly on October 3, 2020 at the age of 52. Born in New York and a lifelong resident of Connecticut, Maureen leaves behind many lives that have been fortunate enough to have crossed her path, only to find that their world was just a bit brighter because of her. Maureen had many accomplishments in her life including successful careers as a gemologist and various positions within in the healthcare field, but her greatest and most treasured achievement was being a mother to Chaz. Maureen lived her life for her family. She would start out everyone’s day with a “Happy Monday” followed by, “how can I help you today?”. Simply put, she was an Angel on earth. Maureen was always connected back home. She loved walking the causeway along the water in Old Saybrook and visiting the dock downtown in Essex. Maureen so enjoyed seeking out new and exciting places to share a meal with the ones she loved and was known quite famously, as the official family baker. Christmas cookies, strawberry bread and red velvet cakes will never taste the same! Maureen, while openly fighting fiercely against her own addiction and mental health disorder throughout her lifetime, also remained a quiet advocate for those in need and struggling. Whether it was volunteering at her local soup kitchen or offering help to another recovering individual in need of support, Maureen’s open arms and heart were always there. While she is now no longer physically on this earth, her kind, gentle soul and the sound of her warm hearty laughter continues to remain among us all. Maureen is survived by her son Chaz Richard Bates of West Hartford, CT; her mother Carol Ann Manning of West Hartford, CT; her father Richard Russell Manning and his wife Harley Manning of Hernando FL; sister Eileen Parent and husband Brian Parent of Old Saybrook, CT, sister Maryellen Manning and wife Amy Manning of Bloomfield, CT, as well as her nieces and nephews: Megan Perkins, Molly Perkins, Tommy Perkins, Ava Zurkowski-Manning and Nina Mesite. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately for Maureen and her family at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Essex, CT. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St Mary’s Soup Kitchen East Hartford:15 Maplewood Ave, East Hartford, CT 06108. This is the food pantry where both Maureen and Chaz volunteer.
