Obituary of Richard F. Helchowski

Richard Francis Helchowski, 87, of Essex CT passed away peacefully on Monday, November 2 with his son by his side. He was the husband of the late Josephine (JoAnn) Helchowski, for whom he cared throughout her battle with dementia. Rich was born on July 17, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, and was the youngest of four siblings. He is survived by his children, Richard Helchowski and Dianne Helchowski Miller, his daughter-in-law Suzanne, and by his five grandchildren, Mary Jo, Kodiak, Timothy, Sydney, and Logan, for whom he loved ‘more than they knew’. He was very active in his church, and always said his daily Rosaries without fail. He also loved visiting with the residents of Chesterfields Nursing Home in Chester, who cared for his wife. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
