Obituary of George Gilbert Bartlett Jr.
George "Gil" Bartlett passed away on December 11th after a short illness. Gil was born on October 5, 1939 in Northampton Ma. to George and Abigail (Morse) Bartlett. Gil was the husband of Anne (White) Bartlett. He owned and operated Chester Boat Works and Bartletts Auto in Deep River. He will be greatly missed by his wife Anne, children Deborah Campbell (Bill), Bruce Bartlett (Joe), Susan White (Dave) John Machold (Donna) and Beth Mesite(Dave), grandchildren Tyler White, Alex White, Jarrett Duhaime, Megan Bartlett, Jesse Bartlett, Ashley Campbell, Katelyn (Campbell) Ely, Nicholas Campbell, Lindsay (Mesite) Devona, Jennifer Mesite, Danielle Machold, Zachary Machold and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Gilbert. Gil was a member of the Deep River Congregational Church where he served on the search committee that brought Rev. Tim Haut to Deep River, a veteran of the Deep River Fire Dept. and a life member of BPOE 1784 in Westbrook. A memorial service will be held on December 23 at 2:00 PM at Chester Boat Works, 444 Main Street in Deep River. A private family committal service will be conducted in the Congregational Church Cemetery on Essex Street, in Deep River. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Deep River Congregational Church, PO Box 246 or the Deep River Fire Dept., 57 Union Street both in Deep River CT., 06417.
