Obituary of Hugo J. Nickse
Hugo J. Nickse passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the age of 89. Hugo was born on March 20, 1931 in Hartford Connecticut, the first of four children born to Chester and Hazel (Ball) Nickse. Hugo grew up in Hartford, attending Buckley High School and graduated from the University of Connecticut, School of Pharmacy in 1955. He was also a participant in the ROTC and entered the U.S. Army as a pharmacist and officer stationed in El Paso, TX, for three years. Upon returning to CT, Hugo worked in Mystic as a pharmacist before opening his own business, the Ivoryton Pharmacy, from 1960 to 1989. He went on to work as a clinical pharmacist at St. Raphael’s Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut until he retired in 2014. He enjoyed travel, boating and world history. Hugo is survived by his long- time companion Corrie Kersten, his sister Mary Trischman, his three sons Chris Nickse (Terri), Philip Nickse (Kathy Correa), and Andy Nickse (Solange Oliveira), and one daughter Cynthia Heinrich (Stuart), along with four grandchildren Jay Nickse, Austin Nickse, Laura Heinrich and Noah Heinrich. He was predeceased by his brothers William and Douglas Nickse. A funeral service will be held at the Wooster Chapel, located in the Fountain Hill Cemetery, 57 High Street, Deep River, Connecticut on Saturday December 19th at 1:00 PM.
