What a nice man, you just did not get any nicer than Mr Tarbox. He was always a great guy to our 4 boys at church and I loved having him joke with me about flying. We will all miss him at Mass at Saint Bridgets of Kildare Church. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Mrs Tarbox and their entire family. Jim Cathy James Michael Alexander and Joseph Weselcouch

I met TJ in 1978. I had just moved back in with my Dad; a single parent household. He and Maureen had moved in down the street after recently getting married. He drove his Dodge 4wd truck up to the school bus stop, rolled down the window and asked “do any of you guys want to work?”, being a 14 year old with a paper route I said to myself, ”how hard could this be?”. Well I found out what hard work was all about. Keeping up with this “old man” was all I could do! T paid half of a year’s membership ($75) to Bob Baff’s Gym in Yorktown so I could “bulk up”; what he’s didn’t realize was that he and Maureen would have to feed me to reach that goal! I worked with T after school, weekends and summer breaks completing tasks that other landscapers would have to use heavy equipment to finish. T taught me how use chain saws, large commercial mowers, cross-cut saws, drive a stick-shift ( I was 16, didn’t have a license, had never driven a stick-shift, but he needed somebody to bring Maureen’s Subaru back from the shop. T said “ just follow me and you’ll be fine!”). When T substitute taught at YHS, he was all business; no first names, just last names and “yes, sir” “no, sir”. My buddies asked me to get him to ease up on us and I said ”not gonna happen”! Forward to senior year after all of the “bulking up” I was voted to captain the swim team and with T’s unwavering support ( he was the only guy I could hear yelling at me UNDER water) at just about every home meet we went 9-1, and I received All Conference, All County and All State recognition and recruitment letters from D 1 schools. That $75 he spent on the gym membership had paid off! He and Maureen found time to attend my graduation from NC State in 1986 to my 50th Birthday party in 2014. They say “It takes a village to raise a child”; well T was a village unto himself! I am forever indebted to T (and Maureen) for his mentorship, friendship, support, guidance and for being a second father to me. My friend you are gone but you will never be forgotten.
Love,
Dave and Jane Meyer

We will all miss Tom from the Great USNA Class of 1964. He and I did a lot of FAITH THINGS together during his time at USNA and I wish I could make the service. Unfortunately, I am the only ADULT FUNERAL SERVER in my PARISH, CHRIST THE REDEEMER, Atco, NJ and have a funeral to serve at the same time as TOM's. God Bless Maureen and family. I will ask my priest friends in the Moodus, CT area to pray for you as they do for me and Kathleen who passed on 5/21/2018. I will attempt to visit the cemetery the next time I am up there. RIP Tom TARBOX.

Tom, and subsequently Maureen and family, have been a key part of our family since our time together at Annapolis. At the end of our sophomore (youngster) year, Tom came into my room and asked if I would be willing to escort (drag as mids call it) one of four girls (senior girls scouts-curved bar) that were coming to Annapolis with his Aunt, Agnes Murphy, who was their troop leader, as a thanks for all their work in scouting. The rest is history-Pat and I met, subsequently married after graduation, and embarked on a 28 year career in nuclear subs. Pat and I raised 6 children and subsequently 12 grandchildren (most of the raising done by Pat as I spent a lot of time submerged at sea), But we have always remained in contact with Tom and Maureen, following their adventures over the years.
Tom never lost his love for Annapolis and things Navy. He was always a class of '64 supporter, attending many ball games in Annapolis and well as class reunions. In later years, if a Navy sports team was visiting Army (West Point) for competition, he was out organizing a reception or picnic to welcome the team.
Tom was always full of ideas. He never became discouraged when they didn't pan out, but instead, moved on to alternatives. He was also a tireless worker, always ready to help someone in need.
Unable to attend Monday's service (recovering from knee replacement), you all will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Fair winds and a following sea to Tom! You will be remembered and missed.
God Bless All...Jim and Pat Baumstark and family
