Obituary of James Ackerman

James Ackerman, 69, of Clinton, CT, loving husband of the late Gail Ackerman (Niantic) and Adele T. Ackerman (Deep River) entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital. Born on July 7, 1951 at Middlesex Hospital, James was the son of William and Theresa Ackerman of Centerbrook. He began his career in the Navy in 1972, a career that would last 20 years, until 1992, when he retired with the title of chief petty officer. As a skilled engineer, Jim was later employed at Millstone for many years, until retirement and then tinkering for a bit with his own glass repair business. In his free time, Jim enjoyed fishing, camping and kayaking. He was a devoted father and grandfather, spending as much time as possible with family. Jim cherished his faith and was active in his church in Essex, CT. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the caregivers at Middlesex Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital for the care and compassion that was given to Jim. Jim is survived by his brother, Tim, 3 daughters, Tammy, Sherry and Lisa, 8 grandchildren, James, Kyle, Michael, Christina, Tiffany, John, Brian, and Mikayla, 2 great grandchildren, Damian and Reagan Quinn, 2 step daughters, Jessica and her children Grace, David and Brooke, and Jaime and her children Brycen, Tristan, and Cameron. He is also survived by his furry pal, his buddy, Max the cat. Jim was predeceased by his brother, Michael and daughters, Kim and Carol. Funeral services with the rendering of Military Honors for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 10:00AM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook.
