Obituary of Charles A. Rowley
Charles A. Rowley,”Charlie/Chuck”, 81 of Old Saybrook, Connecticut passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Sunday, April 04, 2021. He was born on June 13, 1939 in North Adams, Massachusetts. He graduated in 1957 from St. Joseph High School and attended St. Francis Xavier University and North Adams State College before entering the service. Charles was a member of the Army National Guard as a Sergeant (E-5) during the Vietnam War. He later became a Computer Programmer and was employed at Sprague Electric in North Adams. He was a member of the North Adams American Legion, the New Britain Order of Elks and the Old Saybrook Estuary Council of Seniors.
Chuck was an avid Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and UConn Huskies fan. He enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family, playing catch with his grandsons and weekly telephone calls with his nieces and nephews. Chuck could often be found spending afternoons at the Estuary Council of Seniors, playing Cribbage, shooting pool and cracking jokes with his friends who affectionately referred to him as “Chuckybaby”.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Ellen (O’Brien) Rowley of North Adams, five sisters Ellen Rowley, Elizabeth Neville Grande, Mary Welch, Patricia Tomaselli and Alice Rowley and one brother Leonard Rowley. He is survived by his wife, Ann (DiDomenico) Rowley, his daughter Ellen Chagnon of Natick, MA and his daughter Carrie Conti and her husband Nicholas, and two grandsons, Aidan and Edwin of Madison, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and his granddog, Jacoby.
