Susan Clement - Clinton, CT - Former caregiver posted a condolence

I helped care for Sis a couple of years ago and quickly became very fond of her and Mr. Palmer. He took such wonderful care of her; it was easy to see how much he loved her. I mention her name to my family every now and then because I liked her so much and got such pleasure out of singing a particular old song to her (My Darling Clementine) because she would sing along with me for a line or two. When I would come to the end of the song, she would usually ask me to sing it again and would watch me with a smile on her face. When George would leave to run errands, I would play old music on my iPhone for her from the 1940's. I tried to find music that I thought she might remember. One that she especially enjoyed listening to was "On The Sunny Side of the Street" by Jo Stafford. Sis was very proud of her beautiful watercolor paintings and would talk to me about them every time we were together. She often mentioned the names Dick and Peggy. I am so sorry that I did not know about her passing eight months ago. I would like to have paid my respects to her at the funeral service. Caring for elderly people is something that I enjoy, but the downside is that I meet them near the end of their lives and become attached and then they pass on. It is a bittersweet job. Anyway, my condolences to George and his family and God bless Sis.

George, Dick and Peggy, Sis set the bar very high.
She was beautiful, smart, talented, kind and loving.
How lucky for those who knew her and were part of her life if only for a short while.
She was eager to laugh and her smile was contagious.
May her memory be a blessing and set an example for all. Eileen and Elliott Pollack

Stannard Beach won't be the same without Sis. For as long a I can remember I would frequently see her across the street, sitting in the sun by her front door, often with George by her side. She never failed to ask how I was doing, inquire about work, my family, even my dog. More than anything I'll remember her ever-present smile.
