Obituary of Joan Carol (Congdon) Smith

Joan Carol (Congdon) Smith, of Hadlyme, passed away on April 28, 2021 at the age of 83. She was born on October 26, 1937 in Deep River the daughter of Amos and Bertha L. (Way) Congdon. She lived most of her life in Lyme and Hadlyme. Joan loved having company, tea, goodies, traveling and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. She was a very loving and devoted wife to Paul H. Smith who passed away on May 2, 2018. Joan leaves behind three brothers, Robert and Amos Congdon, both of Lyme and David Congdon of New Hampshire, her brother-in-law, Walter E. Smith, and his wife Susie of Lolo, Montana. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Paul of 59 years, and her mother and father she was predeceased by her sister, Elsie L. (Congdon) Molyneux and her brother-in-law, Harry R. Molyneux, her aunt, Minnie (Congdon) Spencer, nephew, Kenneth G. Molyneux, niece, Linda Molyneux and great-nephew, Raymond A. Molyneux. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Eight Mile River Cemetery, Mt. Archer Road in Lyme.
