Dear Chase, Ted, Sean, Jon and Ned,
My life changed on the day an adorable young Nancy-mom, her slim daughter Chase and their chubby pony Mark appeared at the Hunt Club of Fairfield. First they gave me a pony ride. Then they invited me to visit North St and Hoyden’s Hill where there was Dick and Nanna and Odin and a cat and stories of a raccoon and baseball on the TV. Then were raucous trips to Devon and Lake Placid involving goldfish and water skis. And there was love, so much love - in those houses and on those trips. In later years, when I stumbled, that tiny, gorgeous, indomitable Nancy-mother, mother in law, grandmother, grandmother in law helped me in subtle stoic ways that other people couldn’t. There was a lot of that subtle stoic stuff going on underneath the flag dance in Nancy. And I enjoyed the full benefit. I adored Nancy. And she adored you. I do too. Here’s to Nancy and her divine husband Dick and her amazing daughter, my friend Chase, and Chase’s amazing and wonderful family. Thank you for the love. Xx, Al
