Obituary of Carmen P. Slack

Carmen P. Slack “Skip”—loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13th with his family at his side. Skip was born February 17, 1942 in Burlington, CT, moving to Connecticut in 1958, and eventually settling in Chester to raise his 4 children. If you were lucky enough to know him, you knew his ultimate passions was the love for his family and he looked forward to family get togethers, whether it was camping, picnics or just sitting around the kitchen table. His second passion was Car racing and for 15 years he spent his evenings working on his son’s racecar and getting it ready for Saturday night racing at the Waterford Speed Bowl. Gone too soon, Skip had more life to live and more love to give. Those who loved him will miss his willingness to help out whenever possible, his huge smile, his enormous heart and his banging of his cane at the kitchen table. A very proud, caring and generous family man, Skip leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Dolores “Joan” Slack, his children; Ronald (Laura) Slack, Kimmy (Gary) Bouchard, Carmen II “Kippy” Slack; his beloved grandchildren; Robert Jr. (Tanya) Slack, Nicholas (Jennifer) Slack, Joseph (Nicole) Slack, Loni Bouchard, Teney Bouchard, Jeffrey (Jill) Slack and Philip (Katie) Slack, and his 13 great-grandchildren; Robert III, Anna, Nate, Payton, Kensley, Nicholas Jr., Joseph Jr., Harrison, Luke, Nicolas, Cecilla, Lilly, and Philip Jr., as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He also leaves behind a sister; Mary Kate Albert. Skip was predeceased by his son Robert Slack, his brother Clarence Slack and his sister Ruby Duguay. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Cheswter Hose Co., P.O. Box 214 Chester, CT 06412. Burial will be private in the Cremation Garden at the Centerbrook Cemetery.
