Obituary of Eugene Michael Evangelisti

Eugene Michael Evangelisti, known to all as Mike. He was a lifelong resident of Old Saybrook and the beloved husband of Lisa (Learned) Evangelisti. He passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2021. Eugene was born on March 9, 1955 the son of the late Eugene and Marie Evangelisti of Old Saybrook. He leaves behind his son Michael P. Evangelisti, his wife Michelle Evangelisti and their daughter Brooke of Old Saybrook along with his son Cameron Evangelisti and fiancee Michelle Cone of Essex. He is also survived by his brothers Raymond Lebert of Deep River and David Evangelisti of Essex. Eugene had a passion for his family, community, and snowmobiling. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, and friend. His work ethic was renowned and contributed to the success of his family business in construction. Those lucky enough to have known him on a personal level can attest to the impact he had on their lives through his candor. He embodied a competitive spirit and excelled at a young age in sports, especially baseball and football for the Old Saybrook Rams. That spirit continued into power sports by racing snowmobiles and dirt bikes for many years. In his adult years, his dedication to the community was evidenced in numerous charitable contributions of his time and skills, such as assisting in the construction of the little league dugouts and the Saint John’s School addition. He was fiercely dependable and a man of his word, whose handshake was binding. Eugene will be dearly missed and his love will not be forgotten. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30AM on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Saint John’s Church, 161 Main Street in Old Saybrook.
