Obituary of David C. Brainard

David C Brainard, 87, passed away the morning of June 30, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. David was born April 13, 1934, in Higganum CT and moved to Deep River when he was young. David met and married the love of his life Joan E. O’Keefe on January 11, 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 1956 till Dec 1958 and then he was transferred to the National Guard where he served from Jan 1959 till Jan 1961. He then returned to work with Finast National Stores for many years until his retirement in 1996. David and Joan enjoyed traveling especially to Cape Cod, Walt Disney World and any place a cruise ship would take them. He loved life and his family and will be sadly missed. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years Joan, his parents, Nathaniel S. and Clelie A. Brainard, his brother, Richard Brainard and sister, Sylvia Brainard. He is survived by his children, daughters, Lynn Manken and Kathleen Alexander and sons, Alan Brainard and his wife Cathy, and John Brainard and his wife Kim. He also leaves numerous grandchildren and a great grandchild. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, at 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. David’s funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 AM with burial following in the Fountain Hill Cemetery, 57 High Street in Deep River.
