I worked with Arthur J when I first came on the fire department in Mount Vernon, NY. He stood out as a insightful person of intelligence and compassion. His sense of humor was brilliant and just seeing him and knowing I was going to interact with him immediately brought a smile to my face and made my day. I will never forget him and what his example taught me.

A little late but I just came across Artie John's obituary. I am Diane (Wallace) Allison and I was George Washington Wallace's daughter. I believe he and Artie John were cousins or something like that. I was looking for Agnes's obituary and came across Artie John's who I met at my home in Malden, Massachusetts about 60 years ago. I also found out that Agnes's sister, Patsy had lived and died in Volusia County, Florida which is where I live and never realized it. Anyway, I would like to say I was sorry to hear about Artie John. Thank you Diane

When I think of Mr. Murphy I think of the joy he took in sharing stories. Whether they were stories of his past exploits on the fire department or in the military or something he learned on The HIstory Channel the evening before, Mr. Murphy always managed to make you laugh and often made you think, too. But the stories he clearly loved to tell the most were about his family. HIs love for his family was strong and his pride in them was evident. He will be missed.

Wil & I are so sorry to hear of Mr. Murphy's passing. My memories of working with him always bring a smile to my face. He was always happy and smiling, always willing to help anybody in need, and always had a story! He had such a love for his country, his firefighting days, and his family...he called Barbara his bride. We will always have wonderful memories of him. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time and may your happy memories bring you comfort. Wil & Lois Aloe
