Obituary of Patricia Ann (Legins) Fairbank

On Thursday, July 22, 2021, Patricia Ann (Legins) Fairbank of Old Saybrook, Connecticut passed away peacefully at the age of 84. Patricia was born on December 16, 1936, in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, to Ignatz and Jean (Bodgevitz) Legins. In 1956, she received her Bachelor of Secretarial Science from Bryant College. Patricia received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Central Connecticut State College in 1972 and 1981, respectively. She spent 18 years teaching business at Haddam Killingworth High School. Patricia married her husband, Philip Fairbank, on August 2, 1958. Patricia’s death was preceded by her husband (July 30, 2004) and her two brothers, Kenneth Legins (October 12, 2013) and Norman Legins (February 5, 2014), all of whom she missed greatly. Patricia leaves behind her children, Stuart Fairbank (Ann Fairbank) of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, Jennifer Fairbank (Scott Grzych) of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, Elizabeth Fairbank of Cranston, Rhode Island, and her step-daughter, Lynn Fairbank of Dedham, Massachusetts. She also leaves her grandchildren, Justin Schlesinger, Katherine Schlesinger, Alexandra Miga, and Samantha Miga, of whom she was extremely proud. Also, dear to her were her extended family members, including numerous cousins from her birth state of Pennsylvania. Early on in life, Patricia loved sharing her passion for antiques and decoys and traveling to destinations such as Africa and Alaska with Philip. She also cherished spending summers in Maine and Cape Cod and boating on the Connecticut River with her family. Later on in life, with her beloved pup, Raven, by her side, Patricia enjoyed playing mahjong with “the ladies”, sewing and knitting beautiful creations, watching any sappy Hallmark movie (preferably Christmas themed), and, last, but not least, enjoying a stiff vodka martini with queen olives. She will be dearly missed. A private memorial service will be held for Patricia’s family members later this summer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516; www.woundedwarriorproject.org) in her name.
