Obituary of Richard "Tex" Teixeira

Richard “Tex” Teixeira, of Old Lyme, CT, passed away on August 24, 2021 at age 86. He is survived by his wife Helene and his daughter Donna Szymczyk (Chuck), both of Old Lyme, his son Rick, of Littleton, CO, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Bob (Marie), of Lombard, IL his sister-in-law Mary, of Rawlins, WY, and his brother-in-law David Neiderkorn, of Naples, FL. He was predeceased by his daughter Ann, his son Kris, his brothers Jerry and Ron, and his sister Nita. Tex, also known as “Skip”, was a US Navy veteran, a Sears Roebuck & Co. retiree, and a decades long volunteer with Old Lyme’s Fire Department and its Ambulance Association. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Church, 1 McCurdy Road in Old Lyme, on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Old Lyme Fire Department, PO Box 102, Old Lyme, CT 06371 or to the Center for Hospice Care, 227 Dunham Road, Norwich, CT 06360.
