Obituary of Janice L. Ferrero

Janice L. Ferrero, “Auntie Jan”, “AJ”, 83, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully at The Estelle House Hospice in Ocala on August 1, 2021, after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Renaldo and Sophie (Cekala) Ferrero of Kensington. She leaves behind her long-time friend, caregiver and partner, Patty Kisselbrack. She was born in New Britain on July 1, 1938. She lived in Kensington and graduated from Berlin High School in 1957 where she was an avid tennis player. She worked at Dodson’s in Kensington as a teenager. She was employed by New Britain National Bank and United Bank for 27 years in the proof department and personnel until she retired in 1985. She then worked at the Hartford Insurance Company in Southington, retiring in 1998. After retirement she enjoyed working at DiBenedetto’s Restaurant in Plainville until 2001. She lived in New Britain, Plainville, Southington and Lebanon before moving to Ocala, FL in October, 2020. She had been a snowbird for 5 years. She loved and adored her nieces and nephews who affectionately called her “Auntie Jan” and always greeted her with hugs. She enjoyed being a seasonal camper at Water’s Edge Campground for 43 years until she moved to Florida. She loved camping, gardening, yardwork, traveling in New England, artwork (drawing, pastels and painting). She also loved all of her pets, both cats and dogs. Besides her partner she leaves behind her brother Ronald (Ruth) Ferrero of Killingworth, CT, nieces and nephews Theresa (Paul) Hansen of Berkeley Heights, NJ, Joanne (Kurt) Nelson of Virginia Beach, VA, Michael (Kim) Ferrero of Hebron, CT, Stephen (Kerri) Ferrero of Redford, MI, Lisa (Chris) Devine of Rocky Hill, CT, Julie (Kevin) Dellinger of Mauertown, VA, Sharbelle (John) Couric of Rockingham, VA, Amy (Ryder) Scott of Greenwood, ME, Michele (Don) Horvath of Somers Point, NJ, Wendy (fiancé Steve Bower) Ferrero of West Chester, PA and Brian Ferrero of North Wales, PA, 26 great nieces and nephews and 10 great great nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her cousins and many friends. She is also missed by her dog, Quimby. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, James and Abby Ferrero and their infant son David. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 18th, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall (masks required by church) of the Congregational Church of Deep River, 1 Church Street, Deep River, CT, with a celebratory luncheon following at the Carriage House (masks required indoors by DRHS) on the grounds of the Deep River Historical Society, 245 Main Street, Deep River, CT.
