Obituary of Robert CLark East

Robert Clark East, 92, a Hamden resident for over 30 years passed away at Chesterfields Health Care Center in Chester on February 9, 2015. Robert was born in Salem, Oregon on February 12, 1922, son to William Hiram and Bernice Elizabeth (Clark) East. He was married to the late Ruth Althea (Wilson) East for 40 years. He was a Sergeant who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII in the South Pacific as an Electronic Radio Technician. Robert received his Degree in chemical engineering from Penn State and worked as a chemist for over 35 years at Olin Dolge and his own chemical engineering business. He was an exercise enthusiast who enjoyed tennis, fishing, boating, and especially loved spending time with his family water skiing and camping. A passion for "55" Pontiacs, Robert was always fixing and repairing them with many parts nearby. He was known for spending much time with the Eckankar religious movement and its followers. Robert is survived by his daughter, Margaret Provost of Florida, daughter, Carol Anne Lyons of Tennessee, son, James Wilson East, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by Robert W. East. Funeral services will be privately held by the family.
