Obituary of Craig Lee Hanson

Craig L. Hanson, 55, of Stonington, died unexpectedly on February 12, 2015. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Leonard and Harriet (Griswold) Hanson. He grew up in Wethersfield, graduated from Wethersfield High School and Hartford State Technical College. He moved to Higganum and spent his adult life in several towns in the Connecticut River Valley area before recently moving to Stonington. He began his career at Digital Equipment Corp and after a short period of time, started his own business specializing in marine financing and insurance: C. L. Hanson & Associates of Essex. He was well known to numerous boat dealers for his customer service, honesty, quick wit and friendship. Craig had a passion for cars, boats and German Shepherds. He enjoyed owning dozens of cars over the years but MOPARs were held in the highest regard. He was an active member and treasurer of the German Shepherd Rescue of New England. He helped to place many deserving dogs in their forever homes. Craig is survived by his brother Gary L. Hanson of Westbrook, his beloved dogs Danilo and Shayne, and numerous friends who will always remember Craig as a caring person with a big heart. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Lyn H. Hanson. Friends are invited to celebrate his life on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 5:00PM to 7:00 PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook.
