We were deeply saddened to learn of Alec’s passing. Peter also worked for Metal Box which is how we first met. When, in 1979 Peter became the President of Metal Box America, the Hewett family moved from England to Westport, Ct and Alec was one of the first visitors to the new Head Office. In the following years the Hewetts were privileged to join Alec and Mary Lee and their delightful children Robbie, Gratia Lee, Duncan and Gillian (although never all at the same time!) in Bridgehampton. Our memories of those visits are rich and lasting. Valerie and Peter stayed in touch with Alec and Mary Lee over the years with visits to Riverside and visited Alec in Essex Meadows. Alec was the most admirable of friends; generous, kind, funny and possessed of that rare quality, integrity. He was the perfect gentleman. We shall miss him greatly but will, most certainly, never forget him.
