Obituary of Arthur Charles Woodward

Arthur Charles Woodward On 13th of February 2022, Arthur Charles Woodward, loving husband, and father of four children, passed away at age 94. Charles, as he was known, was born on May 11, 1927, in Hinckley, England to Samuel and Florence (Hudson) Woodward. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics, England. On August 7, 1952, he married Elspeth Brown and in 1956 they moved to the United States to take a job with the International Monetary Fund. This job enabled Charles and Elspeth to have many adventures as they traveled the world. Charles enjoyed his meals, walking and reading. He liked shooting pool and playing table shuffleboard with his friends at Essex Meadows. He loved to spend his summers at their cottage on the coast of Maine. His greatest joy was spending time his family. He will always be remembered for his wonderful laugh. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Elspeth, his father, Samuel, his mother, Florence, and his stepmother, Phyllis. He is survived by his four children, Graham (Karen), Neil (Marybeth), Caroline (David) and Susan (Bob), his grandchildren John, Katie, Andy, Sarah, Lora, Alan, Emily, McKenzie, Colin, and Jade and eleven great grandchildren. The Woodward Family wants to express their gratitude to the entire Essex Meadows staff, community and especially Chris Riggio for the loving support they received. A memorial service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Essex Meadows Employees Fund or Planned Parenthood.
