Obituary of Richard Kent Winslow

Richard (Dick) Kent Winslow, 70, loving father of Richard, Daniel, Kelly and Lincoln, passed away peacefully at his home on April 29, 2022, in Waterford, CT. Dick was born on October 17, 1951, in Stamford, CT, the son of the late Richard and Barbara Winslow. He is survived by his brother James Albert Winslow and sister Suzan Winslow Persutti (Stephen Persutti). He leaves behind his beloved sons Richard Kent Winslow II, Daniel Darragh Winslow, Lincoln Scott Winslow and beloved daughter Kelly Winslow Shepard. He is the much-loved father in law to Laureen Wilcox and Zachary Shepard. He also leaves behind his five grandchildren Ashley Lyn Winslow, Daniel Robert Winslow, Kayla Elizabeth Winslow, Camden Elizabeth Shepard, and Jack Winslow Shepard; and great granddaughter Grace Jane Buttaro. Dick attended St. Mary’s High School in Greenwich, CT, and was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University. He was a very talented football player in both high school and college receiving many awards for his accomplishments as a player. Over the years, Dick had a successful career in sales and marketing at Robert Shaw, Amp Inc., and for several years he was General Sales Manager at the Greenwich division of Connecticut Natural Gas. He also opened his own business with a partner called WE Energy. Dick had a zest for life. He loved intensely and was always there for his children, family and friends. To him, his friends were family. He could always be counted on to listen and help in any way. His sense of humor will forever live on in the hearts of those he knew. Dick was also very involved in Special Olympics in support of his son, Lincoln, and was dedicated to his care. A Mass in memory of Dick will be held at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 222 McVeagh Road, Westbrook, CT on May 28 at 10 am.
