June is survived by her Husband of 58 years Kenneth C. McCarthy Sr. of Old Saybrook. Children Donna Dunn (J.T.) of Old Saybrook, Kenneth C. June lived most of her life in Old Saybrook where she volunteered for the Old Saybrook Ambulance for well over a decade. She worked in retail at several Old Saybrook stores over the years where she enjoyed friendships with coworkers and customers alike. Her free-spirited nature and great humor was enjoyed by many who had the pleasure of knowing her.
June along with her husband Ken enjoyed traveling in retirement having visited Hawaii, Ireland, the Caribbean, as well as a transatlantic cruise from Europe. Renewing their wedding vows during an anniversary cruise at sea. They also travelled to Pembroke, Maine researching her Carter family roots.
She took great enjoyment watching her Grandchildren grow and flourish in life. She regularly attended each school play and program and could be found on the sidelines of their sporting events cheering them on.
The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at the Cardiothoracic ICU at Yale New Haven Hospital who cared for June and went out of their way to ensure that the entire family was involved and present with her when she needed them. They are special people in the most difficult time.
A celebration of June’s life will be held at 1pm at Clark Memorial Fireman’s Field, 210 Elm Street, Old Saybrook, CT 06475, on Saturday November 26th. We look forward to visiting with friends and family celebrating June.
