Obituary of Paul W. Murray

Paul William Murray December 31, 1974 – October 14, 2022 Paul William Murray, 47, died at his home in Hartford after complications related to MS. He was a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Waterbury and studied music management at New England Institute of Art. Both exceptionally bright and creative, he clearly preferred pursuing his non-traditional education in any museum, Irish pub, neighborhood bodega, outdoor space, or music venue. His great love of history propelled him in his near daily exploration of the streets of Hartford, where his firefighter grandfather had walked before him. A New Year’s Eve baby born to William and the late, Irene (Kelley) Murray in 1974, Paul’s birth was deemed a celebration by his two older sisters. Throughout his life, he continued to “bring the fun” with his smile, kindness, and side-splitting wit. He adored his daughters, missed his late mother, and grew to be a faithful son who called his elderly father nearly every day. Paul suffered the significant pain of chronic illness and found great comfort in socializing with old friends, meeting new ones, and sitting on his front porch – calling out to neighbors and the children he’d befriended. Paul is survived by his daughters Fiona and Ella, his father William, sisters Anne and Kathleen (David) Burna, nieces Madeleine and Amy, and nephew Samuel. He also leaves his uncles William and Paul, several cousins, his beloved Max Creek family, and so many friends all over Hartford and beyond. A funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held on Monday, November 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hartford, Connecticut. It will also be live streamed for those who are unable to attend. Private burial will follow the funeral Mass.
