Obituary of Anna Einholz

Anna Einholz, age 89, of Ivoryton, Connecticut; Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; and Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 7, 2022. She was the devoted wife of Andrew (deceased) and loving mother of Frank (Rosemarie) Einholz of Stow, Ohio and Helene (Richard) Shamakian of Ivoryton, Connecticut. Dearest grandmother to Christine (Christopher) Baniecki, Stephen Shamakian, and Sabrina (Taylor) Jacobson. Adoring great-grandmother to Theodore Jacobson and Liam Baniecki and loving sister to William (Patricia) Loeffler of Amherst, Ohio. In addition to her loving family, Anna had many dear friends, including Jane Critchett and Susie Skaanning who visited her faithfully over the 23 years that Anna lived in Connecticut. Anna was born in Croatia to Josef and Maria Loeffler on March 1, 1933. They lived a very meager, farmer’s life. Most of Anna’s childhood and young adult life in Europe was spent running from the horrors of World War II. At the end of the war, Anna and her family spent several years in a displaced person’s camp in Austria before immigrating to the United States. She arrived by boat at Ellis Island on Columbus Day in 1951. Anna was a very proud naturalized citizen and loved the USA with a great passion and patriotism. She never missed the opportunity to vote and knew who every politician and government leader was by name and party in political office. She often joked she was so patriotic that she was engaged on Memorial Day and married on the 4th of July! Anna met and married her beloved husband, the love of her life, Andrew, in Cleveland, Ohio where she raised her children. She was a meticulous housekeeper and accomplished and talented seamstress at the Higbee Company. She found much joy in the many scarves she knitted and giving them to her friends and family. In addition to her sewing and knitting, she enjoyed creating beautiful works of art through her counted cross-stitch pictures that were proudly hung throughout her home. She loved to dance and listen to German folk music. Anna was an outgoing people-loving person and being with her family was her treasure and joy in life. Nothing meant more to her than to hear the laughter of her great-grandsons! Anna struggled greatly the last several years of her life with Alzheimer’s disease yet never lost her joy of being with her family. It was a blessing to have been able to have her continue living in Helene and Richard’s home through these last years, and she often expressed her gratefulness and thankfulness to them even as she struggled in her thoughts and ways. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but she is at last back home with her beloved Andy again. The family wishes to express their thanks to everyone at Vitas Hospice Care who helped Anna prepare for her homegoing and to all the friends and neighbors who visited her during this journey. Anna’s family will receive friends from 2-4PM on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, CT 06409. An additional visitation will take place from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, November 16, at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 20820 Lorain Rd., Fairview Park, OH 44126. A prayer service and burial ceremony will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 17 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14609 Brook Park Rd., Brook Park, OH 44142. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Anna’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd #4b, Southington, CT 06489.
