Obituary of David Paul Seluke
David Paul Seluke passed away November 12, 2022 at Middlesex Hospital at age 59.
Everyone told us that this would happen one day but that’s simply not something we wanted to hear, much less experience. David didn’t get things all his way or all that right! But isn’t that the story of life? While on that subject (the story of life)……on September 25, 1963 his parents and older siblings, sisters Donna Seluke Zanardi, Cynthia Seluke Longhenry, and brother Walter “Buddy” Seluke celebrated his birth and he was introduced to all as “David Paul” (Dave) of the late Walter and Carole (Mansen) Seluke Sr. A few years later Dave was knocked from being “the baby of the family” upon the arrival of his sister Judith Seluke-Howell and then to become the infamous “middle child” with the arrival of sister number four, Sandra Seluke Atkinson, and his world was changed forever.
Dave began walking on his tip-toes and once landing firmly on his feet and running, kept all that loved him on ‘their’ toes. He was renowned for his exceedingly exuberant attraction to nature, animals, people, poetry, Sudokus and the meaning of life. “He had a passion for the quiet wind deep on a forest trail. A searcher! Always on the lookout for the deeper meaning in most everything and everyone he met.” His passionate soul led him to his deeper faith in God, a belief & hope of a better world and the family of man, as expressed in his poetry and love of his church. He loved deeply. Especially wolves! We will surely miss our brother, uncle, friend, steward and never ending seeker of just about everything.
Dave was predeceased by his brother, Walter “Buddy” Seluke and nephew Robert Longhenry, Jr. He is survived by his sisters, and his nephews Michael Bertelli & Richard Atkinson III and nieces Alexandra Zanardi, Chloe Zanardi Neal and Mckenna Atkinson. David also leaves behind many wonderful friends as well as his dearest friend Sue Pike and a whole lot of stuff with which no one has any idea of what to do with.
Arrangements are being handled by Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 18 at 11am, at the First Congregational Church of Deep River. Interment will immediately follow at Fountain Hill Cemetery, Deep River.
