Obituary of William Patrick McQuinn
After a long, joyful and full life, William Patrick McQuinn, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. He was surrounded by the love of his family and dear friends.
He was the son of William and Bridget Flynn McQuinn, both of Ireland. Bill was the beloved husband of Lorese Hucks McQuinn of Aynor, South Carolina. They were married for 58 years. He was the devoted father to four loving daughters: Kathryn Maura McQuinn Ryan (John), Norah Eileen McQuinn Conkling (Samuel), Linda Bridget McQuinn Niccolai, and Jennifer McQuinn Chard (Scott). His 10 grandchildren brought him much joy: Megan Elizabeth Ryan, Daniel Patrick Ryan, Michael Joseph Ryan, William McQuinn Conkling, Conor McQuinn Conkling, Bridget Elizabeth Conkling, Patrick Matthew Niccolai, Steven James Niccolai, Samuel William Chard, and Benjamin McQuinn Chard. He was a devoted brother to his sister Kathleen Cunningham, and he was adored by her family.
Bill was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut where he maintained many fond memories and strong connections with his childhood friends. He attended Sacred Heart High School and Bryant College, where he received a degree in accounting. Shortly thereafter, he passed the Connecticut CPA exam. He married Lorese in Arlington, VA, and together they moved to Connecticut, Colorado, and then settled in Old Greenwich, CT, where they raised their daughters. He worked as an accountant and then as a financial executive for numerous industries, including aeronautical, furniture, steel, brass, and appliance companies.
His sense of adventure led him to enjoy many hobbies. These activities revolved around spending time outdoors with his family and friends. Among his favorites were camping, fishing, hiking, running, sailing, and skiing, which he often turned into vacation trips with family and friends. From childhood through adulthood, he also treasured the time he spent with his dogs. He always enjoyed his trips to Ireland where he visited with extended family.
Visitation will be held on November 21st at 9:30 am at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook, CT. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 14 Prospect Street, Essex, CT. Burial will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
