Obituary of Thomas Maynard
Thomas Michael Maynard, 65, of Westbrook, passed away on Sunday, November 27th, after a brief but valiant fight with cancer. Born on October 1, 1957, to the late David W. Maynard III and Marilyn (Holbrook) Maynard, he was a lifelong resident of Westbrook.
He is survived by his son, Thomas M. Maynard II (Kelsey) of Old Saybrook, his daughter, Meghan E. Maynard of Westbrook, and the mother of his children, Carol L. McManus of Westbrook. He also leaves behind his brother, David W. Maynard IV (Laura) of Ivoryton, and sisters Theresa A. Howard of Westbrook and Pamela J. Maynard (Nancy) of Norwich, and many nieces and nephews.
A 1976 graduate of Vinal Tech in Middletown, Tom went on to work in auto body repair before taking over the installation and repair division of the family business, Monoflo Systems Septic and Excavation. He loved classic cars and NASCAR, a cold Bud Light, old movies, and perusing ‘junk sales’ for his next great find. A notorious talker, Tom could make a friend anywhere he went. His family and the shoreline community will miss him dearly.
A memorial service with reception to follow will be held Saturday, December 3rd at 11 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 53 South Main St in Westbrook. Burial will be private and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Westbrook Boy Scout Troop 38, 45 Westbrook Heights Road, Westbrook, CT 06498.
