Obituary of Edward Jon Majkowski

Edward Jon Majkowski passed away Wednesday morning from lung cancer, in the company of his loving wife, Bernadette, his 2 sons, Edward Jr. and David, and David's wife Kim, whom he loved like a daughter. He is also survived by his sister Marylin. Jon is, and will continue to be, sorely missed by friends and family alike. Always willing to help others, Jon was continuously involved in his community through politics, church, volunteering and his professional pursuits. Shortly after retiring from United Illuminating in 1997, he started down a path that took him from tax returns at the Old Saybrook H&R Block office to his own accounting business helping local small businesses manage their finances. It was in this endeavor that he met some of his closest and dearest friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect Street, in Essex with a reception at the church to follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers it is asked that donations be made to your favorite charity or any of the following: Junior Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or your local animal rescue organization.
