Peter was always a true gentleman. Ron and I always loved his wit and wry humor. We shared a love of boating. We could listen to his storytelling for hours. Such a full life lived well. I will miss him and share in Linda’s sadness. Stay strong, my friend. I’m here for you.

I remember you both so well back in those days when i worked as receptionist at High Hopes. Lighting a candle as a prayer blessing to illuminate your onward soul journey.

Condolences to Linda and the entire Bierrie family. Peter and I had a friendship that revolved around the tennis courts at Old Saybrook Racquet Club. It was my pleasure and privilege to play with and against Peter three times a week from his 86th to 93rd birthday. He played the net like he owned it. Peter's humor and stories were second to none. He will be missed.

Peter - always kind, thoughtful, humble and true. I miss his smile, his engaging presence and hearing his stories between sets... My deepest condolences to family and friends.

I had the great good fortune of serving with Peter on the board of the 9 Town Transit bus district for many years. His humility and self-deprecating style were a powerful counterpoint to the quiet kind of leadership he exerted. He could focus discussion of a complicated issue after listening to what everyone had to say with one, succinct sentence or recommendation. And he deftly used his dry wit to put everyone at ease. During one discussion we were debating the need to replace a number of buses that were old, not functioning properly and were unreliable. Peter, then in his early nineties, quipped, “Now you know how I feel!” He was an intellectual powerhouse who respected others’ points of view, sought to achieve consensus and always opted for a course of action that would benefit the organization. He had, it seemed to me, boundless energy, both physical and intellectual. One day he was late for a meeting and the cause was a tennis game that went overtime- he was in his nineties at the time. We became good friends, exchanging personal and professional experiences. I learned much from him, enjoyed his company tremendously and will miss him.
Farewell, Peter, and may you get another boat and sail to your heart’s content.

I met Peter and Linda after they moved to Essex, and I was immediately drawn to Peter’s amazing composure and thoughtful view of the world. We spoke many times and I realized early on that this man would be a mentor and a friend. A number of years ago, when the Essex representative to the 9 Town transit board had passed away, I asked Peter, already in his 80’s, if he’d be willing to serve in the position. He unhesitatingly agreed and was a valuable and beloved member until he called to tell me he just couldn’t give 100% due to failing health recently. I always got a kick out of him referring to me as “his boss”, which was unlikely in this or any universe. When we chatted for that last time a few months ago, I asked him if he enjoyed his time on the transit board, and in a classic Peter way, he said it was easier that getting shot at in Korea. I had never known that he saw combat in Korea. It was not something he spoke of before.
My sincere condolences to Linda and the entire family. All I can say is wet litter one of the good guys. I will super miss him.

Peter loved his boats and would go aboard almost daily - to just sit and enjoy it.
He was a regular at the Wednesday luncheon at the yacht club- regaling us with his many stories.
He will be sorely missed.

Thinking of all during this difficult time. He was a remarkable man with so many talents.
As brilliant as he was he made everyone feel comfortable.
He also had a smile that melted many a heart including mine.
He also was an amazing dancer as so light on his feet. I have visions of him dancing at all of the families weddings that I was fortunate to attend.
We always loved that he had the same passion for sailing and love if Maine as
we do.
We wished we could have sailed with him.now we will
Look for the bright star twinkling in the sky and know that will be him .
Liz is like a sister from a different mister , but I have always felt a part of this family and it began early on from your fathers first greeting me and welcoming me into your home.
With all our love
Andrea and Jeffrey Huseman
