When Florences childhood home on Saybrook Rd. was to be razed by a developer, she called Essex Historical Society for help. I went out to visit her about preservation ideas, but in the end there was little we could do and sadly, the house was demolished. From the beginning our shared love of Essex and Essex history brought us together.
We became friends and enjoyed many outings together. We never went to a place where she did not meet a friend or make
a new one. She seemed to know everyone and had the latest local news and updates long before me.
She was one of my first guests on the "LOOKING BACK" series that I do for Public Access Television. The show features local people that I feel have led extradorinary lives.
I loved her many stories of family and work, and life in Essex. She was one to see the funny side of every situation and this was highlighted by that beautiful contagious laugh.
Knowing Florence added much to my life and I miss her deeply.
With sympathy,
Mary Ann Pleva .
